Will Free Webhosting Allow Me To Test A Site?

“I have some questions about free webhosting. I’m not ready to pay for web hosting right now but I would like to be able to upload a site and all its information for free so I can test it. I will be building my websites files using Dreamweaver CS3 and need a webhost that will allow me to sign up for free webhosting where I can just test my site until I’m ready to pay for it.

Thank you very much for any information about free web hosting you can provide!”

The above question about testing a site for free using free webhosting was submitted by a reader and here is my answer…

Yes you can test a site for free using free webhosting, but why go to all that trouble by…

  • Registering a domain
  • Setting up your account at the free webhost
  • Going back to your domain registrar and pointing your domain to the free webhost
  • And then upload all your website files to the free web host…

…when you are just going to take everything down later?

Okay, you said you can’t afford web hosting at the moment, and I understand that, but did you realize that you can get excellent super cheap web hosting with excellent 24/7 toll free tech support for only $4.95 per month? Yeah, that is all it will cost you. Its cheap! Heck, you probably spent more than that on a hamburger last night.

Instead of hassling with a free wehbost, here is what I suggest…

  • Register your domain at NameCheap.com for only $8.00 per year (Use a discount coupon by searching for: “namecheap.com coupon code”).
  • Get your webhosting for less than $5.00 per month instead of hassling with free webhosting.

  1. Oh C says:

try freehostia.com, they offer free subdomains with PHP enabled to test your scripts.

You have to have a valid email address if you use their service (remember, its free!) so they can send you your password and username, and information if you create a mysql database, etc.

    hope this helps! :)
