The best green web hosting company that I know of is Hostgator. The reason I highly recommend them is because they have awesome customer service and technical support that can be accessed via a toll free phone line 24 hours per day – 7 days per week. Last summer their office building was nailed by a devestating hurricane and because of redundancy with their servers and backups, there was ZERO downtime for anyone with a Hostgator or SEO Hosting account (SEO Hosting is owned and operated by Hostgator). In fact, in the two years that I’ve had an account with Hostgator, I have never experienced any downtime. The cool thing is that now they have switched everything over to green web hosting too. ;-)
There are several. The top of the lot are Thinkhost and Hostpapa. Both have great affordable plans, and both fund environmental initiatives like tree-planting, awareness campaigns etc.
